Can Loopback 2 solve all my audio software routing needs?
The management vlan of the switch acts like the loopback interface since they are both logical interfaces. When you have a Layer 3 switch, like a Catalyst 4500,6500,3550 or 3750, to configure loopback interface from the config mode, complete these steps: Switch#configure terminal. Switch(config)#interface loopback 1. Switch(config-if)#ip address. A datagram sent by a higher-level protocol to an address anywhere within this block loops back inside the host. This is ordinarily implemented using only 127.0.0.1/32 for loopback. Rogue Amoeba recently updated their Loopback software to version 2 and I reached out to them for a review copy, which they were happy to provide.
In my short time with it I quickly realized it is a near essential tool for routing audio on the mac.
Ufocus 3 0 3. With Loopback 2 I'm able to create a virtual audio device that combines my microphone, the output of skype, the output of reaper, firefox, Zoom, iTunes (pretty much anything) within one interface that I can access as an audio device in Screenflow for recording, or OBS for streaming.

I'm looking forward to trying this out with streaming for real soon.

To summarize my complaints
1 – can't reroute virtual audio cables once connected (have to delete and make new
2 – no undo, it's easy to shift-click the wrong thing and since there's a lot of delete key action needed, I had to start over a couple times.
3 – can't back up, export, share settings.
4 – metering and volume controls do not have dB or % markings or tooltips. Very mac-like but not great for audio people.
5 – Price, it's $99 US and that's a lot of damage. But I don't think there's anything else close to what this can do.
I've forwarded these complaints/feature requests to Rogue Amoeba and it seems to be things that are on their wish list as well. Subtitles 3 1 download free. Hopefully these things will be added before long.

The LoopBack framework
The LoopBack framework is a set of Node.js modules that you can use independently or together to quickly build REST APIs.
A LoopBack application interacts with data sources through the LoopBack model API, available locally within Node.js, remotely over REST, and via native client APIs foriOS, Android, and HTML5. Using these APIs, apps can query databases,store data, upload files, send emails, create push notifications, register users, and perform other actions provided by data sources and services.
Clients can call LoopBack APIs directly using Strong Remoting, a pluggable transport layer that enables you to provide backend APIs over REST, WebSockets, and other transports.
